Big FL Y designer hanging light with LED green
Large LED hanging light FL/Y by Ferruccio Laviani, 83 cm diameter Ferruccio Laviani is a long-standing designer and Art Director for the Italian company Kartell which produces lights, as well as household items and furniture. There is one thing that all the products developed by Kartell have in common: they are made of plastic in all its shapes and colours. This includes the lampshade of the hanging light FL/Y, a model which Laviani designed for the Italian company in 2002. This bulbous, round lampshade is neither a sphere, nor a hemisphere, as the intersection and thus the light-emitting surface is slightly below the centre. The purpose of this is to concentrate the emitted light even better and to amplify the lighting effect on the surface beneath it. Plastic in all its variations is the material which is used in the products made by the Italian company Kartell. Since the company’s foundation in 1949, the designers who work for Kartell have addressed the question of how plastic can be put to use and what the best way of designing and processing it is to create a perfect harmony of functionality and aesthetics. Well-known designer pieces produced by the Milan-based company include, for example, the children’s chair K 1340 and the lemon squeezer KS 1481. With regard to the lights, it is the model 4006 by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni from the year 1959 and the Tic Tac series which act as flagship models and have a high recognition value.
