Floor lamp Poppy with 3 flexible arms
Flexible Poppy designer floor lamp with fascinating petals Ulrich Beckert and Georg Soanca-Pollak are a pair of designers who work in the field of interior design and lighting design. They have developed a series of lights together with designer Peter Thammer. This series combines their creativity and physical expertise. The aim was to go beyond what was previously imaginable, and to create a product that would enthuse and fascinate. And the trio definitely succeeded. Poppy is a truly special kind of floor lamp. At first glance it is the three flexible arms that catch the eye. They appear to have a life of their own. And this effect is what makes Poppy so vibrant and full of life. A fabric cover conceals the metal flexible arms, which are responsible for Poppy’s agility and which make the lighting so unbelievably variable. They come in beige and ceramic shades to maintain a look of elegance and style. But the designers have saved the best for the lamp heads themselves. When Poppy is switched off, you can see the rounded hand-blown glass bodies and the affixed metal plates, which combine with the glass body to create the impression of a bud of a plant. But turn Poppy on and the petals begin to move. They begin to unfurl and move away from one another. They create space for the light to shine from the heart of the glass body. What is happening? The warmth of the bulb causes the bimetal elements to expand and thus for the flower to open. It is a phenomenal effect, especially when you consider the simplicity of the components required.
