HAY Nelson Ball Bubble hanging light S 32 5 cm
Nelson Ball Bubble pendant lamp in spherical shape with line structure Nelson Ball Bubble pendant lamp is a full, perfectly round spherical lamp that fills any interior with a warm, diffused light. Inspired by silk-covered Swedish pendant lights that he wanted for his office but were too expensive for him, American designer George Nelson created this lamp back in 1947 and it was first produced in 1952. With the great ingenuity that characterized his work process, he chose a self-crosslinking plastic spray developed by the U.S. military and applied it to a lightweight, rounded steel frame to create these softly glowing shades. At the time, the Bubble Lamp signaled a revolution in the modernist lighting industry, and to this day, the lighting creation has lost none of its appeal.Connecticut-born George Nelson (1907 - 1986) was one of the most influential figures in the pivotal early days of modern design. Trained as an architect and visual artist at Yale, he believed that a designer's job was to make the world a better place and based his work on the perfection of nature's creations.
