LE KLINT 147 plastic hanging light handmade
Classic designer pendant light 47 by Le Klint – hand-pleated lampshade The stylish Le Klint 47 pendant light is handmade and unique. Each lampshade is pleated by hand in Odense on the Danish island of Funen in a special cross-pleating technique using plastic foil. The origins of the Le Klint brand go back to the beginning of the 20th century. The architect P.V. Jensen Klint produced a pleated lampshade for a paraffin lamp, which he designed himself and which was well received. Afterwards, the Klint family worked together on refining this lampshade as well as the way it was pleated, and it was initially given as a present to friends and relatives. In 1943, one family member Tage Klint turned the family’s craftsmanship and pleating skills into a business and founded the lighting company Le Klint in Copenhagen, which still exists today. The model of the designer pendant light 47 is a simplified version of the “Fruit Lantern” created by Esben Klint, which his father Kaare Klint designed and manufactured shortly after the company was founded. Thanks to the downwards-facing opening this hanging light can illuminate a table surface directly for example, while the general lighting is subdued on all sides by the traditional cross-pleating on the lampshade.
