Mater Terho M pendant light natural opal 24 cm
Design pendant lamp Terho with shade made of lime wood and opal glass The name "Terho" of this pendant lamp is the Finnish word for "acorn"; the shade of the pendant lamp is shaped like a fruit of the oak tree. It is composed of a cap made of lime wood and an opal diffuser made of hand-blown glass. Terho also works as a stylish furnishing element when switched off and provides soft, general or table lighting when the light is switched on. Terho was designed by Maija Puoskari, a Finnish designer with a studio in Kallio (Helsinki district), whose passions include fishing, mushroom picking and campfires. Thus, the design of the pendant lamp is also inspired by a natural model. Puoskari is mainly dedicated to lighting and interior design and also designs tableware collections for international brands. In 2016, she was nominated for the Nordic Design of the Year award. Her work has also been on display at the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin since 2017. Furniture and lighting manufacturer Mater works with both established and young designers, combining exclusive high-end products with ways of working that keep local craft traditions, people and the environment in mind. The aesthetics of the products clearly refer to Scandinavian minimalism - beauty in its purest form.
