Northern Heat hanging light made of brass mesh
Heat designer pendant light made of fine brass mesh “A glowing cloud of fire” – that is how the Swedish designer Johanna Forsberg describes the Heat hanging light. A delicate mesh of shimmering brass forms the extraordinarily shaped lampshade of this light. This is actually reminiscent of a large, glowing fireball when the glossy mesh reflects the light and gives the room a warm and cosy atmosphere. As soon as the light is turned off, Heat reveals its peaceful and transparent character, but does not lose its fascination in any way. Johanna Forsberg has managed to create a dynamic designer light that is primarily defined by its contrasts. At the same time, the social aspect played an important role in the development of this light. With the goal of promoting creativity and artistic abilities amongst socially disadvantaged people, the designer collaborated with a development agency to entrust asylum seekers and unemployed migrants with the production of the lampshade. Since then, the lampshade of the Heat hanging light has been made exclusively by hand by migrants and asylum seekers. This means that each individual light is a unique piece. The designer and artist Johanna Forsberg grew up in northern Sweden. Her creative career began when she discovered the artistic potential of a special material for herself. This material was nothing other than steel mesh, which fascinated her so much that she perfected her work with the metal mesh more and more over time. Forsberg based her handmade creations on natural shapes. She finally achieved a masterpiece in 2018 with the Heat pendant light - a top class light fitting made of brass mesh that delights and inspires other artists and designers throughout the world with its elegant appearance.
